Perspective, Foreshortening and
Depth in Pictorial Space

In any given sample of drawing, there are more often than not areas of the drawing which are more successful while other areas of the drawing are less so. Sometimes there are very subtle but important visual truths which can be easily unobserved because they really can't be detected without a firm grasp of the artistic concepts necessary to influence the perception. A good example of this is a lack of knowledge regarding how volumes and shadows appear in space - perspective. It is important for the student to learn the language of drawing in a useful, practical manner without merely skimming over topics as important as perspective. Perspective is taught in the AAC program, not as it pertains only to architectural subjects but also how it is applied to depicting convincingly more organic forms in space.
